VITINA - KERNITSA MONASTERY TOUR
Description:
We start from the main square of Vitina and from a marked path we descend to meet an old stone bridge named “Tzavarenas” and stop to admire the river “Mylaontas”.
Then we follow the side of the river between plane and fir trees on an amazing combination of colors and countryside. Next stop at the famous monastery of “Kernitsas”. From there we can admire the valley view of Mylaontas river and a picturesque Mainalon mountain view. After our a little break and the tour of the Monastery where we could be in for a surprise for a double or triple treat, we descend and discover hidden in dense vegetation, the two-arched stone bridges built in 1901 by the abbot of the monastery.
Our tour continues on an ascending path we meet “Nymfasia” village. Alternatively, we can finish the tour at the square or continue from a very nice dirt road trail to Vitina’s main square.
